who is your 1st Pinoy Idol?
Though Gretchen Espina, 20, of Biliran, Leyte was proclaimed the very firs
t Pinoy Idol last August 17, criticisms and feedbacks are pointing out that somebody deserved to be named the very first Pinoy Idol.
Head- to- Head battle, Jayann Vs. Gretchen
“Early into the development of Pinoy Idol, there was a growing petition in online forums requesting for Ignacio’s exclusion as its program director primarily because of his frequent use of butterflies (whether live butterflies or having people wear butterfly wings) on every project he has directed. He commented that he would still stick to his “lucky trademark” and even taunted petitioners to direct the show and put beetles or mosquitoes on the set if that is what they want.
In an article published before Pinoy Idol’s premiere, noted film and television critic Nestor U. Torre hoped that the lapses that occurred in Philippine Idol would be remedied in Pinoy Idol. However, once the show went underway, those hopes seem to dampen as Torre noted on the first episode alone some mediocre talent and Gutierrez not yet becoming his own as host. Torre did laud the judging styles of Alcasid and Magdangal and Tracy’s emerging Simon Cowell-like demeanor. One viewer, who wrote to the Philippine Daily Inquirer about the show, was not as impressed when comparing it to Philippine Idol, complaining about Gutierrez’s nasal and unnatural hosting style, Magdangal’s immaturity as judge and Tracy seemingly imitating Cowell more as compared to Cayabyab.
Meanwhile, entertainment writer Jean Oli wrote that Pinoy Idol does not have that “Idol feel” despite high expectations towards GMA Network, calling it “an ordinary singing contest.” She even stated that the network’s previous singing contests such as Pinoy Pop Superstar and Celebrity Duets: Philippine Edition were more interesting to watch than Pinoy Idol.
In a post-mortem article written six days after the finale, Torre wrote that the entire Finals phase of the competition came out less exciting than Philippine Idol’s because of several factors, namely some of the finalists were not even star-material, the entire audition process that put them in the competition in the process, and the early elimination of the better singers from the competition. He even doubts if the winners and others in the competition were really talented and versatile enough to take advantage of the strong support that have during the competition.” [canned verbatim from http://en.wikipedia.org/Pinoy Idol]
At the very early stage of the competition, a lot of criticisms had been released, and that criticisms still lives even the PI already ended its season. More talented singers were ousted early in the competition however, those who are just the so-so ones are still competing and kept on moving to the next round. However, people must understand that this is the format of the competition, i don’t mean that the format is to keep those not so good singers on track, what i mean is, this competition decides the winner based on the text votes alone. Nothing more, just the text votes but comparing to Pinoy Dream Academy, the people are the ones to decide and rate the idol contestant not through the judges score. Somehow, it has an advantage, and somehow it has a disadvantage.
what is Pinoy Idol?
Pinoy Idol originated from Pop Idol created by a British entertainment executive Simon Fuller, which seeks to discover the best singer or IDOL in the country through series of nationwide auditions and live performances , which is determined by public voting through SMS.
Yes. Public voting through SMS.
Philippines has been considered as the text capital of the world. Millions if not Billions text messages are being sent everyday, thus it is really a great investment. However what is the disadvantage of this is that, the contestants who have great connections and can afford to lose their thousands of phone loads can really make a difference on this competition.
Now, as the Pinoy Idol ended its season, controversially 20 year old Gretchen Espina, ultimately claimed the name as the very FIRST PINOY IDOL over rival, Jayann Bautista, who had released a record album under the VIVA records label previously.
This result started a number of people to question and bewildered. Many believed that, since Gretchen Espina’s father is a governor, the connections were there and made her won. Plus, rumors spread that Ogie Alcasid will be making albums for Penelope, Sue Ellen, and Robby, the issue gets deeper and horrible for Gretchen’s part. But, Gretchen allegedly denied about the spreading issue, telling that the she was, loved by the people that was why she won the competition.
the competition already ended, however the real competition just started.
being the first Pinoy Idol, there is a great challenge for Gretchen to prove that she is definitely the
Pinoy Idol to be honored and hailed. Versus is challenging Gretchen to do not just good but excel in everything she does! People will keep an eye to this promising woman.
